Though the guidelines for making websites accessible aren’t new – WCAG Version 2 been around since 2008 – attention to them has increased recently. Partly, this is due to increased awareness. Sadly, it’s also due to an increase in legal actions taken against non-accessible sites.
Andigo is working with clients now to assess their existing sites, recommend remediation steps, and monitor sites for on-going compliance. (Many of the standards are content related, so new content added to your site must be compliant.)
All new site development work we undertake is being done with accessibility in mind. We are working with clients to ensure that their branding guidelines can be followed while still adhering to good accessibility practices. (Areas of impact include rules that dictate contrast between text and backgrounds, for example.)
