A Scenic Tour of the Online World

More On Mobile Marketing

Friday, July 6th, 2012

Last week I wrote about email marketing and mobile users. Here’s some more info outlining the importance of the mobile market courtesy of AD60. (With a nod to MarketingProfs for their repost)

First, don’t doubt the size and growth of smartphones. 8% of all digital traffic comes from smartphones right now and by the end of the year, there will be more active smartphones than feature phones.

Consumers are becoming more comfortable with their smartphone’s capabilities, even putting their money where their thumbs are. Mobile commerce users are up from 23% in 2010 to 35% this year, with projections over 40% by 2014. (US $10 billion this year; projections of US $25 billion for 2015.)

That all adds up to mobile-specific sites making sense for more and more businesses. (There are some instances where dedicated apps make more sense, and some for whom the investment would be better made elsewhere. Give us a call if you’d like help evaluating which path is best for you.)
